History

Helios was founded in 1988. At a time when most industries had already embraced computer technology, software designed to meet the particular needs of a tanning salon were markedly absent. By 2001, several companies had emerged attempting to fit the software needs of tanning salons. After trying to produce a competitive software product, ETS abandoned its work on Salon Explorer and instead sought to partner with Helios to provide its customers with a stronger family of brands while opening up the marketing opportunities for Helios.

In 2006, the ETS and Australian Gold companies were sold to new ownership, MH Equity. The MH Equity partnership also saw the full incorporation of the Helios company into its New Sunshine portfolio. Now wholly-owned by New Sunshine, Helios had the opportunity to more effectively cross-market within the relationships with ETS, Australian Gold, California Tan and Designer Skin.

In 2011 Helios introduced the HUB marketing platform that is fully integrated into the Enterprise V12 POS. Now, Helios customers can use their client specific POS data to target market individual patrons to cross sell and up sell salon services and products.
